ESS Manager Single Sign On

The ESS Manager Self Service (ESS) Single Sign-on is a way for employees (training admins and instructors) to connect to Cyber Train from the ESS system without having to login to ESS and Cyber Train separately.  With this setup, the employee can login to ESS and click a link to get to the Cyber Train system.

Step 1: CT Webconfig is Up to Date
Step 2: Match User ID to ESS Login
Step 3: Create ESS Content Web Link
Step 4: Create ESS Menu Option
Step 5: Specify the ESS Employer

Step 1: CT Webconfig is Up to Date

Click Here to verify the Cyber Train Webconfig is up to date.

Step 2: Match User ID to ESS Login

If managers in Cyber Train will also be users (not just students) and those manager want to login to Cyber Train from ESS, their Cyber Train user id’s under User Security must match EXACTLY to the ESS User ID.

New Users
There are two option for adding new users.

  1. If using the Import Users option, make sure that the User ID for the new user matches EXACTLY the ESS User ID.
  2. If manually adding a user, click the 'Add new record' link at the top of the table instead of the 'Copy' option. When adding a new user, the 'User ID' field is a hyperlink. Click on the hyperlink and enter in the name of the employee and click the 'Find' button (or just click the 'Find' button). This will direct Cyber Train to search though the ESS listing for the employee's login information and it will connect the two systems.   If the connection is also being made to link the Employee view of ESS. This step keeps you from having to ask the person “What did you make up for your ESS user id so I can make an equivalent CT login?”. The person will be in Cyber Train as a student with their ESS login attached to that record and this process will connect the user account to the student record so both can use the same credentials.
Existing Users
For any existing user, edit the user account. The 'User ID' is a hyperlink field. Click on the hyperlink to change the 'User ID' and manually change it to match what is currently in the list of user in ESS.
