To see the Employee's and Manager's Home Page

Overview

The Home Page is an overall picture of what is going on and what requires attention.  The |Home| hyperlink is always at the top of the screen for easy and quick access to this page.  Upon logging into the system, the person’s name defaults across the top in the Welcome Banner. The information displayed here is dependent on who is logging into the system.

Home Page depends on security levels and/or role in the system.  If someone does not see something he/she should, contact the Administrator. Messages Board contains reminders, approval actions, and other information. To remove a message: Check the box & Click the Mark as Read button. Calendar & Preferences options are standard to all whereas the Find Box and Recent Items are options based on role and security.

There are four (4) different roles and someone could be setup to be one or all of them.  The more roles someone has in the system, the more that person will see on the Home Page and have access to the system.  These roles are: Student, Manager, Instructor and/or Training Admin.

Student Role
Everyone in the company will mostly have this role.  Students profiles allow for tracking of outstanding requirements, class enrollment, courses taken, programs, credentials, external classes, tuition assistance and other information as needed.  The Messages a student sees will alert them to important things they should consider such as completing a test, filling out a survey, registering for an upcoming class, credential that is coming due, etc...  As a Student, the left-hand menu option available is called My Record, as well as the Calendar and Preferences which are standard for all logins.

Manager Role
Those in the company who manage their direct and/or indirect employee training efforts will also have this role in the system as well.  They will be able to see their employees outstanding requirements, class enrollment, courses taken, programs, credentials, external classes, tuition assistances, and other information as needed.  The Messages a manager sees will alert them to important things they should consider such as employee credentials expiring, outstanding requirements, approvals as managers are setup to approve different requests, etc... As a Manager, the left-hand menu option available is called Manager, as well as the Calendar and Preferences which are standard for all logins.

Instructor Role
Those in the company who are instructors who are training classes, will also have this role in the system as well.  They will be able to see upcoming classes, classes currently in session as well as completed classes.  As an Instructor, the left-hand menu option available is called Instructor, as well as the Calendar and Preferences which are standard for all logins.

Training Admin Role
Those in the company who are responsible managing, tracking and reporting on training efforts will have this role.  Most of the time these people are responsible for managing the curriculum, creating classes, updating student information as needed, running reports, etc... As a Training Admin, there is not a special left-hand menu option or something in Messages for consideration but they will have access to the Calendar and Preferences which are standard for all logins.

Find Box & Recent Items Button
These two features help to find students, classes, or courses in the system as security permissions allow.  Currently, everyone can see these options, but there are different levels of access.  Those who have user security permissions (Instructors, Training Admins and some Managers) can use these options while students and most managers can see the features but cannot use them at this time.  Additionally, the only people who can search for courses are those who have access to the curriculum > course catalog.

The 'Find Box' is an open text field where you can type in a full or partial word.  It will return all files that contain that information as the person as security permissions to see.

The 'Recent Item's' Button, when clicked, displays the last five (5) files you touch in among all categories - students, classes and courses.
