Visibility Software will get you set up with a SCORM Cloud account and provide you with the information necessary to enable the feature.  NOTE: At this point, Visibility Software supports AICC and SCORM 1.2 training packages.

Why is the 'Attempt' field different between the SCORM Reports and the Report Writer - View_StudentSCORM?

The attempt field is not tracking information the way one would think.  It is not how many times someone 'attempts' to complete the training packages. Well, it is but it isn't.  It all depends on how the training package was created and how the student exits it.

  • SCORM Reports (Through the SCORM tool)
    • If there is an option to bookmark the training package so that students can leave and come back, the attempt is not counted until that student gets through the whole package once.  It counts all of it as a 1 attempt at completion.
    • If the student chooses to not continue the training package from where he/she left off but rather start over or the training package does not allow for a bookmark and forces the student to start over, it counts every time.
    • Thus the chances of having this field be consistent is slim.
  • Report Writer - View_StudentSCORM
    • Thus to make the attempt field more consistent and more like what we (Visibility Software) thought it should be, we decided to track the number of times someone click the 'Launch' or 'Relaunch'.
    • If the field is used in the customized reports of the Report Writer tool, the information will look different than the SCORM reports.
