If an organization wishes to capture relevant applicant skills or be able to search the applicant pool based on skills using the various options available including the Req Requirements Search, then the Skills drop-down list must be activated and populated. If Users should see Applicant skills then choose View, Add Only, or Update in Admin > Security > Groups > Applicants Tab > Applicant Skills. If Users should be able to make use of Skills in the Requisition Requirements page then choose View, Add Only or Update Skills in Admin > Security > Groups > Requisitions Tab > Req Skill Requirements .
If Applicants should be able to enter skills on the application, add the page to Admin > Website> Career Portal > Online Application . If returning Applicants or Employees should be able to View, Add or Update their listed skills, then give them the appropriate access by clicking the pencil icon to edit the Skills option at Admin > Website> Career Portal > Self Service > Skills .
Skill Categories are used to organize/group the Skill Codes and limit the list of skills shown to an Applicant when chosen while adding skills. (e.g. the Skill Category of Certifications would be used to limit the list to skills such as CPR, CPA, SPHR, etc.) Skill Categories need to be created before the Skill Codes.
Skill Synonyms are used with Skill Codes to help automatically capture Skill Codes during resume parsing. They are not visible to Users or Applicants. Unique synonyms, including abbreviations, can be listed with each skill code to expand the ability of the parsing engine to find relevant Skills in the applicant's resume. The synonyms should be separated in the list using semi-colons (;) not commas.
Sage HRMS NOTE: If integrating directly with Sage HRMS , matching these codes to Sage HRMS or vice versa makes the integration work more seamlessly.
User View: Skill Categories and Codes are visible to Users based on Group Security in the Applicant File on the Skills Tab of the Experience Page. Users with access to the Database or Cyber Search may make use of Skill codes. Some Applicant Reports are also available for reporting applicant Skills. Skills may also be used on the Requisition Requirements page.
Applicant View: Skill Categories and Codes are available to the Applicant if enabled in the Online Application and on the Self Service site.
Import Code Key for Skill Categories: SKCAT

Import Code Key for Skill Codes: SK

Creating Skill Categories and Codes:
Important Considerations: Cyber Recruiter codes cannot contain certain symbols such as commas, quotes, periods, apostrophes or ampersands and the user will get an error message when trying to enter or import codes containing them. There are also certain character combinations that must be avoided because Cyber Recruiter is programmed to strip them (even if they are in the middle of a code or description) as they can be used by others to reference potentially dangerous procedures or scripts that could cause harm to your Cyber Recruiter system. These combinations include: SP_ or sp_ and XP_ or xp_. Also a double dash will be converted to a single dash. There are a few other combinations not listed here that could be stripped, but it is extremely unlikely that they would be used in codes or descriptions.
Category Codes:
After clicking "Add new record." enter in the necessary information to create a new Skill Category.
Field |

Code |
Unique Identifier for the drop-down option. This code is written in the raw data and is referenced to determine the description to show on the screen. If the code is removed from the Admin > Codes section, this value will still be in the Applicant or Requisition file for reporting purposes unless the file is edited and saved after the code was deleted.
When importing data for Applicants or Requisitions use this value and NOT descriptions for the import spreadsheets. |

Inactivating Codes:
Sills codes and categories can be inactivated. When the code is inactivated it will no longer be an option to select when updating the system by users or applicants. Inactive codes in search lists and reports inside Cyber Recruiter will be segmented so all active codes appear first and then inactive codes appear under a header ---Inactive---
To inactivate a code, edit the code and check mark the option for 'Inactive'.
